Fraser Birks (Cohort 4 ) Awarded Silver Medal at STEM for BRITAIN Competition
The STEM for BRITAIN event provides early-career researchers with an opportunity to present their research directly to parliamentarians, policymakers, industry representatives, and members of the wider scientific community. The competition celebrates outstanding research across a range of STEM disciplines and aims to strengthen connections between researchers and decision-makers.
Reflecting on the experience, Fraser highlighted the value of engaging with policymakers and industry leaders who shared a strong interest in scientific research and innovation.
Achievements such as this demonstrate the high calibre of research being undertaken by HetSys CDT students and the growing importance of machine learning approaches within atomistic modelling and materials science.
