Students should submit this form if they are already on a MBio course. If you are currently not on an MBio course but are interested in securing an MBio in industrial placement or in-house project, you will also need to complete this form.

MBio Academic Course Requirements

Students can only progress onto the 3rd year of an MBio course, or be eligible to seek an MBio in house project or industrial placement with a view to transferring onto an MBio course route if they have met the MBio Expression Criteria, set out below:

Year 2 Progression Criteria (MBio Students): To progress onto Year 3 (MBio), you must meet the Year 2 MBio progression criteria:

  1. You must pass at least 90 credits of modules in Year 2 including all required core modules.
  2. You must achieve an overall minimum score of 60.0% for the Year; this overall score is calculated on the full 120 credits.
  3. You can not have completed an intercalated year to progress onto Year 3. Moving onto an BSc degree with placement year will only exclude you from enrolling on the MBio degree, once the placement has been undertaken.

N.B. If acceptable mitigating evidence is submitted, you will be allowed to progress to Y3 if you achieve an overall minimum score of 60% for Y2 in your best 90 credits of modules.

Confirmation of year 2 marks. Please follow the instructions above if you have mitigating circumstances and need to seek confirmation of eligibility from the Director of Undergraduate Studies. (required)
MBio options. Please be advised at this stage, you can express interest in both routes. However, you will need to dedicate the appropriate time and energy to securing both options, and decide which you are committing to before the deadlines for each. (required)
Completing this form does not commit you to undertaking a placement/in house project or transferring your course – it just lets us know you are interested in searching for a placement or in house project at this stage so we can include you in the relevant support and resources materials. If you change your mind about searching for a MBio Industrial placement or in house project at any time, you can let us know by contacting slsplacements@warwick.ac.uk (required)
In order to be eligible to progress or transfer onto an MBio route you will need to: *Have met the MBio Year 2 Progression Criteria *secure either an in house project confirmation or suitable industrial placement role by the required deadlines during the course of year 3 (required)
The School cannot guarantee you an Industrial Placement or In-House Project. You will have access to resources via the UG guide, Careers and Employability Moodle space, and Student Opportunity’s central careers services. Additionally, you will be contacted regarding support through the summer and autumn term, and have access to workshops and 1-2-1 support to help you source and secure your choice of placement. However, ultimately each student is responsible for seeking and securing their own placement or project role by the deadline dates (these will be specified in the year 3 section of next years UG guide). (required)
