WMG hosts a visit from City and LEP Leaders
Today, WMG was pleased to welcome Jonathan Browning, Chairman of Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, and Councillor Ann Lucas, Leader of Coventry City Council.
Meeting with Professor Lord Bhattacharyya, the visitors were interested to understand the breadth of research undertaken by WMG, how the Group develops partnerships with industry and the significant economic benefits of such partnerships. They were also keen to understand how WMG has developed its education programmes including initiatives such as the WMG Academy for Young Engineers and the new Advanced Engineering Programme which sees WMG offering education in the range from 14 year olds to doctorate.
The visitors also had the opportunity to take a tour of WMG’s impressive R&D facilities which included the new Automotive Composites and Energy Storage Innovation Centres to see first-hand the collaborative research the Group is involved in. They also learned more about the SME programme delivered through the International Institute for Product and Service Innovation.
Professor Lord Bhattacharyya said he was delighted to host the Councillor and the CWLEP Chairman and to be able to show the breath of WMG activities. The partnership between the City, the LEP and WMG is critical to local economic growth, job creation and inward investment in the advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors.
