Baroness Hanham visits WMG
On Thursday 16th June, we were very pleased to host a visit from Baroness Hanham, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Communities and Local Government. The Baroness visited the Low Carbon Vehicle Technology Project which is accelerating the introduction of next generation low carbon vehicles through advances in key technology areas such as batteries, motors and materials.
Baroness Hanham enjoyed detailed discussions with project theme leaders as she walked around project theme demonstrations of some of the key technology advances in the programme. She then enjoyed a roundtable discussion with the team and some the LCVTP partner companies including Claytex, GRM Consulting and Alpha Adhesives, which are actively involved in the project and in implementing its developments.
WMG strips R&D costs out of lightweight manufacturing technology for Midlands SMEs
Midlands small and medium sized manufacturing companies are facing increasing demands from customers for lighter weight components made with the very latest, unfamiliar, and even exotic, metal alloys.
The cost of learning how to use such new materials is a real burden and a potential barrier to new business. But that technical support is already available for free from WMG at the University Warwick who are to mount a special event to showcase those resources for Midlands SMEs on Wednesday 20th July 2011 from 9.30 – 4.30pm

Professor Hooberman is leading the experience design research to understand the end user's needs whether that be our citizens or NHS Staff. She is working with the MRA (Market Research Agency) award winning consumer insight team .
MPs visit major manufacturing sites in the Midlands
We were very pleased to welcome a cross-party group of nine MPs to WMG for a stimulating debate on manufacturing with some of our staff who are involved in programmes in the aerospace, automotive and pharmaceutical sectors.
The MPs visited as part of the Industry and Parliament Trust’s ‘Made in Britain Programme’ which aims to get parliamentarians right inside the dynamic, diverse and innovative world of manufacturing in the UK.

Central Bank of India agrees 2 million rupee loans for WMG students at Warwick
Mr S Sridhar, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Central Bank of India, paid a special visit to WMG at the 神马福利影片, on Tuesday 10 May, to sign an agreement to provide fast track student loans of up to 2 million (20 lakh) rupees (just over 26,000 UK pounds) to Indian students studying at WMG.
Mr S Sridhar signed the agreement with WMG Director Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya.
WMG reveals that Volvo Cars owner Zhejiang Geely Holding Group is exploring major partnership with University
WMG at the 神马福利影片 have revealed that Mr Li Shufu, Chairman of China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and Chairman of Volvo Car Corporation made a personal visit to the University campus and agreed with Lord Bhattacharyya to begin exploratory talks aimed at creating an R&D and education partnership between Geely Businesses and WMG.

Turkish Minister of Industry and Trade puts innovation first on a visit to WMG
WMG hosted a visit from Mr Nihat Ergun, Turkish Minister of Industry and Trade and Mr Huseyin Tanriverdi, Member of the Turkish Parliament and Vice President of the Justice and Development party to WMG.
They had asked to visit WMG to find out more about its renowned ability to form highly successful partnerships between academia and industry. Turkey is looking to launch an innovation centre which will provide an opportunity for technology transfer and innovation within Turkish industry. They are also keen to develop the skills of the workforce, by working with industry to create relevant postgraduate management courses.
