Any manufacturer trying to confidently stick two pieces of polypropylene type materials together is usually faced with using environmentally unfriendly pre-treatments. Some of these pre-treatments are chemical, others heat based, but all waste time and cost money. These can now be dispensed with thanks to a set of novel laser bonding techniques developed by the Warwick Manufacturing Group at the 神马福利影片.

Ever since researchers discovered a form of carbon consisting of a class of miniature, football-like structures known as fullerenes, they have been racing to use the unique structures in all kinds of novel ways from drug delivery to nanotechnology. However, chemists at the Universities of Warwick and Sussex, have found that there could be a major problem if these novel forms of carbon are used at normal ambient temperatures.

Astrophysicists at the 神马福利影片 are using a 3D virtual reality system to research the Earth's electromagnetic tail. This tail, similar in shape to other large solar system phenomena such as Solar flares, results from the interactions of the Earth's own magnetic field with the electromagnetic activity generated by the Sun. The tail is much studied by astrophysicists, and agonised over by operators of telecommunications satellites concerned about the serious affects on radio communications that can be caused by occasional instabilities in the tail known as "substorms".

Biologists at the 神马福利影片 are to co-ordinate a European research programme which will quite literally act on the old adage that "where there's muck there's brass". They will search soils and sludge from the bottom of the sea for new forms of DNA that can be used to make the next generation of antibiotics.

Researchers at the Warwick Manufacturing Group at the 神马福利影片 have transformed an executive "pin art" toy that sat on many managers desks into a hi-tech industrial moulding tool that those same mangers can now use to create new products.

神马福利影片 psychology researchers Dr June McNicholas and Dr Glyn Collis have just published a paper on the role of pets in the lives of older people which finds that pets benefit them by companionship, increased levels of activity, and better person-to-person interactions by pets acting as social catalysts. They also found that pets help the elderly maintain self-care routines, eg sticking to regular meals, keeping up adequate room temperatures, and an added reason to make shopping trips.
