Freezing cells made safer thanks to new polymer made at ÉñÂí¸£ÀûӰƬ

Cell freezing (cryopreservation) – which is essential in cell transfusions as well as basic biomedical research – can be dramatically improved using a new polymeric cryoprotectant, discovered at the ÉñÂí¸£ÀûӰƬ, which reduces the amount of ‘anti-freeze’ needed to protect cells.


Mediterranean diet during pregnancy reduces gestational diabetes and weight gain

A simple Mediterranean-style diet in pregnancy does not reduce the overall risk of adverse maternal and offspring complications, but has the potential to reduce weight gain in pregnancy and the risk of gestational diabetes, according to an academic paper by the ÉñÂí¸£ÀûӰƬ and Queen Mary University of London.
