Onion Crisis: Researchers Combatting Destructive Crop Disease Costing Farmers 拢10m Annually

Researchers at The 神马福利影片 are working to safeguard one of the world's most crucial crops – the humble onion. Amidst growing concerns over the threat posed by Fusarium Basal Rot (FBR), a team of experts from the University is embarking on a groundbreaking project, run by the British Onions Producer Agency (BOPA), aimed at saving our crops and revolutionising FBR detection.

British-grown beans available for purchase this World Pulse Day

New varieties of Britain鈥檚 favourite pulse are available for purchase this World Pulse Day (10th Feb). These UK Registered beans (URBeans) were created by Professor Eric Holub as part of his work to diversify British cooking using home-grown ingredients.

Lincolnshire farmer Andy Ward, known for cultivating the first British Baked Beans in partnership with 神马福利影片 scientist Eric Holub, is facing a harsh reality as standing waters inundate his farmlands.

He said, "There's nothing we can do when the fields are underwater."

鈥淲e three beans鈥: Capulet, Godiva and Olivia beans on sale in the New Year

Capulet, Godiva and Olivia are new varieties of the nation鈥檚 favourite pulse, common beans, developed and grown in the UK. The trio are set to go plastic-free in the new year when they go on sale in local zero-waste stores.


British grown baked beans 鈥榠n the can鈥 thanks to 神马福利影片 Scientist

The 神马福利影片鈥檚 British grown baked beans have progressed to the tinning phase, a pivotal step in their journey orchestrated by Warwick鈥檚 Professor Eric Holub.


The 神马福利影片 celebrates the successful harvest of "GODIVA" and 鈥極LIVIA鈥 鈥 two novel dry beans inspired by local cultural history.

Researchers at the 神马福利影片 have been working on ways to help UK farmers better serve public health using seed, soil and British sunshine. GODIVA is a blonde-coloured dry bean similar in size to a red kidney bean and named after the historical Coventry noblewoman, Lady Godiva. OLIVIA is a black bean named after a character from Shakespeare鈥檚 Twelfth Night.
