The University of Warwick  and The Royal College of Nursing are delighted  to announce that they have formed a new strategic research partnership.  The RCN Research Institute will now be based in the University of Warwick’s School of Health and Social Studies.

Warwick first new Medical School to join MRC Strategic Partnership

Warwick Medical School has become the first new Medical School to join a Strategic Partnership with the Medical Research Council (MRC). The Partnership has been set up with the University of Warwick and encompasses Warwick Medical School and the Department of Biological Sciences. Following the agreement, the Medical School will receive more than £750,000 from the MRC towards some new initiatives.

Selenium Supplements may increase risk of type 2 diabetes

New research led by Dr. Saverio Stranges, Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology at the University of Warwick’s Warwick Medical School has found that taking large selenium supplements may actually increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes rather than protecting against it as previously thought.

Warwick Wins Three National Teaching Awards

Professor Ed Peile, Head of Division of Medical Education at the Warwick Medical School, Professor Jonothan Neelands, of the Institute of Education, and Dr Mike Neary, Director of the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning , have won three of the fifty National Teaching Awards offered for 2007 by the Higher Education Academy to be used for personal development in learning and teaching.

This means that Warwick has won the maximum possible number of awards.
