Wind Sculpture by Paul Mount

Wind Sculpture by Paul Mount

Donated by Eric and Jean Cass through the Contemporary Art Society, 2012.

Paul Mount鈥檚 Wind Sculpture shows his interest in the reflective qualities of stainless steel. The polished surfaces move with the wind. They catch fragments of light, sky, and landscape, creating shifting reflections that change moment by moment.

The sculpture is inspired in part by the balancing toys that Paul Mount observed while he was working in Nigeria. Their playful motion led to this exploration of stability and motion. The sculpture is firmly rooted in place, yet it continually reshapes itself in response to weather and environment.

Installed at the 神马福利影片鈥檚 Wellesbourne campus, Wind Sculpture provokes thoughts about solidity and fragmentation, permanence and constant change and the British weather.
