Building confidence through our approach to upskilling

Introduction

As we continue to enhance our recruitment processes and systems, ensuring that colleagues feel confident and capable in using these tools is a key priority. Our approach to upskilling has been designed to provide practical, engaging, and supportive learning opportunities that help colleagues develop the knowledge and confidence they need to carry out recruitment activities effectively.

By combining clear process overviews, interactive system walkthroughs, and dedicated opportunities for questions and feedback, our training sessions are focused on helping participants build both understanding and practical capability.

Providing clarity from the outset

Each training session begins with an overview of the processes being covered. This helps participants understand the scope of the session and how each process fits within the wider recruitment journey.

By setting out what will be covered in advance, colleagues can approach the session with a clear understanding of the learning objectives and how the training relates to the responsibilities within their role.

Bringing processes to life through interaction

A central feature of our upskilling approach is the interactive walkthrough of the system. Rather than focusing solely on theory, participants are guided through the relevant processes within SuccessFactors using the How to Guides.

This hands-on approach helps colleagues see how the guidance applies in practice and allows them to become familiar with the system in a realistic context. By working through processes step by step, participants can build confidence in completing tasks accurately and efficiently.

Creating space for questions and feedback

Questions are an important part of the learning process, and each process walkthrough includes dedicated time for participants to raise any queries. Colleagues are encouraged to make a note of questions as they arise and bring them forward at the end of each walkthrough.

This approach ensures that:

  • Questions are addressed in a structured and focused way.
  • Participants can clarify their understanding before moving on to the next process.
  • Common questions can be captured and added to the FAQ library, creating a valuable resource for future reference.
  • Any questions that cannot be answered during the session are followed up and responded to shortly afterwards.
By actively encouraging questions, we are fostering an open and supportive learning environment where colleagues feel comfortable seeking clarification and sharing feedback.
Ensuring confidence in role-specific processes

The purpose of our upskilling approach is not only to provide information, but to ensure that colleagues feel trained and confident in carrying out the processes that sit within their remit.

Each session is designed to:

  • Ensure clarity on each process before progressing to the next.
  • Provide practical experience of using the system.
  • Build confidence in completing recruitment activities accurately and consistently.
  • Support colleagues in understanding their responsibilities within the process change areas.

This focus on role-specific confidence helps ensure that colleagues can apply their learning effectively in their day-to-day work.

confidence in processes
A practical and supportive learning experience

Our approach to upskilling recognises that people learn most effectively when training is relevant, interactive, and supported by opportunities for discussion. By combining clear explanations with practical demonstrations and structured question-and-answer opportunities, we are creating a learning experience that is both accessible and engaging.

The use of How to Guides during system walkthroughs also provides participants with a practical resource that they can refer back to after the session, helping to reinforce learning and support continued confidence in using the system.

Supporting continuous improvement

Upskilling is an ongoing process, and the feedback gathered through training sessions plays an important role in shaping future learning resources. Questions raised during sessions contribute to the development of the FAQ library, ensuring that common areas of uncertainty are addressed and that support materials continue to evolve in response to colleague needs.

By investing in practical training and ongoing support, we are helping colleagues develop the skills and confidence needed to work effectively with our enhanced recruitment systems and processes.

Empowering colleagues to succeed

Our upskilling approach is designed to empower colleagues with the knowledge, practical experience, and support they need to carry out their roles confidently. Through clear process overviews, interactive system walkthroughs, and a strong emphasis on questions and feedback, we are creating a learning environment that supports both individual development and organisational success.

Ultimately, this approach helps ensure that colleagues are well-equipped to navigate recruitment processes effectively, contribute to a positive candidate experience, and support the successful implementation of our enhanced systems and ways of working.
