We need to be able to stand up and talk about our work, to each other and also to non-experts. Good speakers talk with clarity and charisma. They’re engaging and they’re accessible, even when presenting complicated ideas.

For many of us this doesn’t come easy, but the good news is that presentation skills can be learned. Nerves can be tamed, audiences won round and content shaped into delicious story-sized bites.

In this interactive workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to create, practice and refine a short presentation. You’ll learn how to craft your message, ‘own the stage’, interact with the audience and enjoy your time in the limelight. You will leave more relaxed than you walked in, with the practical skills needed to go forth and tell the world about your work.

UG Training PG Training Staff Training Wed, 20 May 2026 17:18:44 GMT warwick institute of Engagement 8ac672c69e390bf6019e46659d1135c0 02/07 10am-12:30pm: Embedding Engagement Into Teaching /wie/training/staff/livesessions/masterclasses/teaching-engagement/
When: 10am - 12:30pm, Thu, 02 Jul '26

Where: Ramphal

Getting involved with public engagement is a fantastic opportunity for students. The skills they learn and the opportunities engaged teaching offers them set them up for careers inside and outside of academia. Across Warwick there are dozens of examples of modules/ lessons being created that either focus on teaching students about public engagement, or use engaged methods to teach students about a wide variety of topics. Everything from encouraging students to develop hands on activities, podcasts, or videos to explain a topic to a lay audience, up to building collaborative partnerships between students and communities.

This workshop will build on work done by the Public and Community Engagement Pedagogies Learning Circle to curate a handbook of examples of these engaged pedagogies (methods of teaching). If you're interested in exploring how you could create something like this in your department this session is a great opportunity to hear about practice from across Warwick and spend time considering the detailed practicalities - for example how might ethics and assessment come up for you? You'll be supported to design your own solution and receive peer feedback or your design.

PG Training Staff Training Learning Circle Activity Tue, 26 May 2026 14:58:01 GMT warwick institute of Engagement 8ac672c49e63d74d019e64caeeee0422 07/07 12:30pm-3:30pm: Public Engagement Masterclass: Personal Branding /wie/training/staff/livesessions/masterclasses/personalbranding/
When: 12:30pm - 3:30pm, Tue, 07 Jul '26

Where: Online

In this training, you’ll learn how to define your personal brand, and communicate it effectively through writing, presenting, images, websites and social media.
