Why Become a Bonner Leader?

  • Earn while you learn: Receive Federal Work Study ($12/hour if eligible).
  • Gain experience: Build your communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Stand out in the workforce: Build a resume that shows four years of nonprofit and service-based experience.
  • Make an impact: Complete meaningful community projects with peers to create a better world.

What to Expect in the Bonner Leader Program

As a Bonner Leader, you will be required to commit to a consistent weekly schedule of 6 hours a week (150 hours per academic year) and submit PA clearances.

Year One: Core Skills + First Year Trip

After orientation, your first year is all about building core skills. You鈥檒l take part in a series of workshops focused on leadership and service, and join fellow first-year Bonner Leaders on a special first-year trip designed to strengthen teamwork and community connections.

Year Two: Project Leadership + Sophomore Exchange

In your second year, you鈥檒l take on greater responsibility through project leadership and specialized training. You鈥檒l also participate in Sophomore Exchange, connecting with Bonner Leaders from other colleges and universities to share ideas, experiences, and inspiration.

Year Three: Leadership Roles + Career Preparation

Year three focuses on advanced leadership and professional readiness. You鈥檒l step into higher-level leadership roles, gain executive coaching and mentoring, and refine the skills that set you apart in your future career.

Year Four: Capstone + International Service

In your final year, you鈥檒l complete a capstone project that ties together your service, leadership growth, and career goals. You鈥檒l also have the opportunity to participate in an international service trip鈥攑utting your experience into action on a global scale.
