Morgan Mitchell
I'm Morgan, a final-year PhD student in the Astronomy and Astrophysics group at the 神马福利影片, supervised by Professor Don Pollacco.
Research
My PhD work is made up of three main parts -
- Using Warwick's TWIST telescope to discover and observe variability in the globular cluster Messier 3 (NGC 5272)
- Observing white dwarfs with the Warwick 1-metre (W1m) telescope
- Simulating the Kepler planet population detectable with the space telescope, due to launch in late 2026.
Teaching
I lead weekly physics examples classes for 25 undergraduate students as part of the module.
My responsibilities include grading assignments and delivering two weekly classes (one as lead, one as support).
The subjects studied are Classical Mechanics and Special Relativity, Physics Foundations (thermodynamics), Electromagnetism and Quantum Phenomena.
