Background

I'm Shreeya, a postdoctoral researcher at the 神马福利影片 and a professional ponderer of the question: "What more THz can do?". Currently, under the supervision of Prof. Emma Macpherson, I work on developing THz imaging platforms for biomedical applications specifically THz single-pixel imaging and ellipsometry. My research lives at the chaotic, exhilarating domain of optics where fundamental physics meets biomedical reality, and where I try to convince photons to do useful things for society. Spoiler: they usually cooperate.

This all traces back to a PhD at Mahindra University, India (2024), where I spent quality time peering into the near-field with terahertz microscopy, convincing evanescent waves to reveal themselves in THz metagratings, and prodding black phosphorus and carbon nanotubes with THz radiation to see what they'd do. And before that? A Master's in nanotechnology at Shivaji University where exploiting the things photons can do started to seem like a perfectly reasonable way to spend a life.

When not coaxing light into doing my bidding, I am a firm believer that science only counts if you can explain it clearly ideally without putting anyone to sleep. I thrive in collaborative environments, which is a polite way of saying I enjoy having people around to debate ideas. Outside the lab, I collect passport stamps, half-finished novels, and meals I ordered entirely by pointing at something and hoping for the best.
