DEAR Doctoral Group members contribute cutting edge research to Education Studies undergraduate module
DEAR Centre Doctoral Group members were invited to present on their recent research projects to mark the end of the undergraduate module led by Prof Emily Henderson (DEAR Centre Director), to give the students on the module access to cutting edge research being presented live, experience of meeting doctoral students - and to give the doctoral students experience of presenting their work to different audiences. The module was entitled 'Masculinities, Fatherhood and Young Children' and the group was comprised of second and third year students from a range of departments and degree programmes. The presentations were as follows:
- 'Performing Masculinity: Textbook Scripts and the Making of Heteropatriarchy in Contemporary China' - Haoxi Ou
- 'Transgender (Hijra) students in India: Negotiations with family and community' - S. Arokia Mary
- 'Exploring Parental Involvement in Degree Mobility Preparation in China: Education Agents’ Perspectives on Parents’ Roles' - Evan Zheng
The presentations sparked a range of interesting discussions and questions back to the panel and it is hoped this format of session will be included in next year's module.
