Profile

I'm an Honorary Teaching Fellow in Sociology, having completed my PhD in Sociology at Warwick in 2022. Before starting my doctoral studies, I earned an MA (Distinction) in Social and Political Thought (University of Sussex) and a BA in Sociology (UNAM).

For the last few years, I have been teaching several modules across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, engaging with topics of gender, racism, and social justice. Previously, I have also held teaching appointments at higher education institutions in Mexico (ITESM and UNAM) and taught introductory modules to the Social Sciences.

Teaching

In my teaching, I draw from my own research experience in a number of academic projects around femicides, prisons, hybrid confinements, grassroots organisations, and social development in the Global South. Most recently, I have been an Associate Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies. My research interests lie in questions around global migration, bordering practices, and post/decolonial perspectives. I have also gained insight into critical methodologies that provide tools for navigating highly contentious settings whilst conducting fieldwork.

I have mentored and supervised undergraduate students, across different fields in Social Sciences and Humanities, to complete their research projects within the Widening Participation Programme.
