Ready to Respond

The Schwartz Athletic Center transformed into an emergency response training center on Thursday, Oct. 17 for the annual disaster simulation event hosted by the School of Nursing.

The event gave nearly 140 senior nursing students the opportunity to apply their classroom learning to a simulated explosion at the athletic complex. Just like a real-life emergency, the drill required the students to act and adapt amid the chaos and confusion to triage staged victims that were located throughout Schwartz. Representatives from local, state and county emergency and medical agencies also participated in the drill to collaborate with the students on proper disaster protocol.

Watch the video above to see some of the sights and sounds from the drill.
