Widener University has named John P. Downey, as its next dean of students. Downey, who will begin his new position on Tuesday, May 28 comes to Widener from Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina, where he has served as dean of students since 2003.

Numerous Widener faculty split their time between their respective fields and preparing the next generation of professionals.

Andrew A. Workman, Ph.D., is appointed as the next provost of the university.

President Julie E. Wollman and Delaware Law School Dean Rodney A. Smolla presented at the South by Southwest Education Conference and Festival (SXSW EDU) in Texas.

Biology professor Katherine Goodrich has been named the university’s fourth Cynthia H. Sarnoski Science Faculty Fellow.

Sachin Patil, chemical engineering professor, was awarded a grant from the W.W. Smith Charitable Trust to investigate novel cancer therapeutics.



Michelle Meekins-Davis is named university Chief Diversity Officer.
