Widener University's physical & occupational therapy services provides pro bono, evidence-based rehabilitation to underserved clients, offering students valuable hands-on clinical training.

Fostering Holistic Care Through Interprofessional Practice

Our physical and occupational therapy services takes a holistic, interprofessional approach to care for its clients. We recognize that individuals coming for physical or occupational rehabilitation often face barriers beyond just their physical health conditions - challenges like transportation, insurance coverage, or childcare that impact their ability to access and fully participate in therapy. 

Our services offers a comprehensive range of physical and occupational therapy services to help clients recover function, manage pain, prevent decline, and develop skills across the lifespan. 

Client Services Provided 

Physical Therapy Services:

  • Address pain, improve strength, and increase functional mobility
  • Provide post-surgical care and management of chronic orthopedic conditions
  • Provide rehabilitation for neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's
  • Instruct in exercise and restoration after treatment for cancer
  • Promote physical function, wellness & fitness, and quality-of-life
  • Provide rehabilitation for pediatric clients in our pediatric sensory gym

Occupational Therapy Services:

  • Promote client independence in the home and community
  • Provide hand therapy and refinement of fine motor skills
  • Address cognitive and perceptual challenges
  • Provide rehabilitation for neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's
  • Address activities of daily living such as cooking, dressing, bathing, etc. in our state-of-the art activities of daily living suite
  • Provide rehabilitation for pediatric clients in our pediatric sensory gym

Client Information

Clients must be uninsured or have exceeded their allotment of physical/occupational therapy as designated by their healthcare provider to receive treatment. Clients must also present a physician's referral at the time of their initial visit to the clinic.

The clinic hours of operation are normally Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Student Interprofessional Care Experiences in PT & OT

Widener's physical and occupational therapy services is an affiliate of the Chester Community Clinic, a student-run, pro-bono clinic offering physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, nursing, clinical psychology, and social work services to uninsured and underinsured members of the community. You will have the opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with your peers across the health professions to develop comprehensive, holistic, interdisciplinary plans of care.

Preparing the Next Generation of Healthcare Providers

At the pro bono clinic, you will help clients regain their mobility and get their lives back on track, while learning and perfecting your own techniques under the mentorship of licensed physical and occupational therapists.
