Thrive Mentoring - making a difference

Mentoring has proved to be a hugely valued part of the Thrive programme: it provides a safe space for the conversations, reflections and development started during Thrive to continue.

In 2025/26:

  • 50% of Thrive programmes were invited to be connected with a mentor
  • 60% of eligible students took up this opportunity
  • 100% of mentees recommend it.

We are incredibly grateful to our mentoring community for providing this valuable opportunity to our students and seek to continue to expand this element of the programme.

Our mentors bring experience from a wide range of different roles in different sectors, are passionate about personal development, and eager to give back and support others.

If you have experience in mentoring or coaching, or simply an interest in providing a safe and supportive space to listen and encourage others, please do get touch via thrive@warwick.ac.uk

What students are saying

Thrive was a very informative programme giving you tools and the skills to enhance your personal goals. The programme offered the participants a mentor to support their personal requirement which is brilliant!

The mentor programme - exceedingly helpful in supporting the blossoming of the career I plan on pursuing after university.

The mentor scheme is another really great part of Thrive that I have hugely benefitted from.

Tangible benefits to students 2025-26

Following our conversation about our shared mission to make a positive difference in our community, my mentor informed me of a Trustee Position at the Potential Trust. I completed the selection process, and I have been selected to become a Trustee and am thrilled to contribute to the work of the Potential Trust!

A new perspective from a sector I didn鈥檛 know much about, invited me to potential events to learn more about the business and will support my networking endeavours.

My mentor encouraged me to apply for a conference I was looking at submitting a poster to - and I got accepted!

I got inspired to look for opportunities in places I never considered before and got the courage to apply for fellowships. I even acquired the confidence to navigate the dynamics in my group projects without feeling like an imposter and ended up getting a 1st in that project. Prior to the mentorship I had lost so much confidence and was doubting myself.

Mentors need to be available to offer mentor support for 3 months between January-June, and we recommend around 4 meetings take place, over the 3 months. Mentors are provided with guidance and training in the autumn term, and are invited to in-person events on campus.
