Information for mentors and the Mentor Development Programme

Welcome to all Professional and General Mentors working with PGCE students at Warwick.

Your role as a mentor is very important to the development of our trainee teachers, and one we value highly at CTE. So that we can support you to join our network of high-quality mentors, we ask that you complete the following six tasks:

1. Watch the relevant mentor briefing below:

Two children writing maths equations on a whiteboard.
Group of young children running and smiling.
Map of the world with country names written behind it.

2. Create an account in Axia

and click on the Mentor Registration tab to initiate the account creation process. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

Personal email addresses should not be used

Please note: If you are not currently mentoring any Warwick students, you will see warning messages saying this, but it will not stop you from accessing the MDP content.

3. Sign up for a Mentoring Conference.

All mentors are required to engage with a Mentoring Conference at the beginning of the term in which they are mentoring a trainee. Conferences will be offered in September and January.

The aims of this conference are as follows:

  • To gain a shared understanding of the principles and processes of being a Warwick Mentor.
  • To explore how the ITaPs and Professional Practice Units are used to support trainee development.
  • To be able to explain how the mentoring documentation supports the trainee in their teaching practice.

Our Mentoring Conference is offered in three different formats:

  1. A face-to-face event at the ÉñÂí¸£ÀûӰƬ - 9th September 1.00pm - 5.00pm
  2. A live online conference - 22nd September 2.00pm - 5.00pm
  3. An online asynchronous conference. If you are unable to attend either of the dates above, you will be sent a link to an asynchronous conference after the live conferences have taken place.
