Widener recently honored two employees with the William David Eckard Jr. Award for Distinguished Service - Mary Allen, executive director of communications, and Paula Heider, assistant to the dean for Commonwealth Law School. The Charlotte Motor Speedway honored Kevin McCrea '91L, a specialist in the United States Army, in the Coca-Cola 600. McCrea, a Widener Law School graduate who passed away in 2020, was celebrated with his name on the  windshield of Ross Chastain’s No. 1 Chevrolet, as Chastain competed in the annual 600-mile NASCAR Cup Series.
